Sofa, Chesterfield

/CHOOS-ter-feeld/  n.
  1. 1. A capacious upholstered seating apparatus characterized by its deep button-tufting and rolled arms; esp. one whose presence becomes a room's anchor furniture by physical fact.
  2. 2. colloq. A sofa so thiccc it practically lounges for you. For the discerning who appreciate girth and gravity in their furniture.
In a sentence,

"The Chesterfield sofa in the corner was so thiccc and inviting, even the sunlight took a moment to bask on its deep button-tufted seat."

Etymology,

Named after the 4th Earl of Chesterfield, Philip Dormer Stanhope (1694–1773), who is credited with commissioning the first such sofa. The design was reputedly intended to prevent unseemly wrinkling of one's finely tailored attire, while delivering an unexpected bonus in thicccness.
