Ram 3500, Dually
/ram THUR-tee fyv HUN-dred/ n.- 1. A heavy-duty pickup truck of substantial posterior breadth, distinguished by dual rear wheels per side and an aggressively flared bedside that reads as architectural; esp. one photographed in golden-hour parking-lot stillness.
- 2. colloq. A truck that does not back into a parking spot so much as occupy it with permanent intent.
"He pulled up in a thiccc Ram 3500 dually and the parking lot reorganized around him, the flared rear quarters take up two spaces by birthright."
From the Ram Trucks brand (spun off from Dodge by Chrysler in 2009 as a standalone marque) + the model code denoting one of the heaviest-duty consumer pickup configurations. The trim dually is short for "dual rear wheel", the doubled axle that gives the truck its rear-three-quarter silhouette. The Ram nameplate itself goes back to the 1981 Dodge Ram, trading from the start on the imagery of a literally thiccc-necked beast.
