Hippopotamus, Common

/hip-oh-POT-uh-mus, KOM-un/  n.
  1. 1. A semi-aquatic mammal whose substantial mass and low center of gravity render it a prime exemplar of thicccness in nature; especially when viewed astern, its posterior defies casual description.
  2. 2. colloq. A riverine barge with no particular hurry, often observed exuding calm dominance over its watery domain.
In a sentence,

"He spotted a thiccc hippopotamus lounging in the river's embrace. The water dared not rush her."

Etymology,

From Greek hippos (horse) + potamos (river), literally 'river horse', which seems to have been a conceptual leap of faith.
