Courgette, Giant Green
/kor-ZHET, JY-ant GREEN/ n.- 1. A specimen of the Cucurbita pepo species displaying astonishing lateral expansion, often challenging the structural integrity of standard garden beds.
- 2. colloq. The zucchini equivalent of a vintage station wagon: elongated, substantial, and requiring a dedicated produce section.
In a sentence,
"The local farmer's market boasted a thiccc Courgette, Giant Green that required its own stall. The adjacent carrots were visibly envious."
Etymology,
From French courgette, diminutive of courge 'gourd', + Giant, Old English 'gēant', from Latin gigantem. The 'green' is self-explanatory, unless you're colorblind, in which case, apologies.
