Tabular Iceberg, Antarctic
TAB-yoo-lar ICE-berg, an-TARK-tik n.- 1. A colossal slab of ice, characterized by its flat top and steep sides, often mistaken for a floating geological feature. Its mass and breadth defy casual navigation, esp. when viewed in stark contrast against the horizon.
- 2. colloq. That thiccc chunk of frozen water that makes other icebergs look like they're just trying too hard. Refuses to float unnoticed.
In a sentence,
"He marveled at the thiccc Antarctic tabular iceberg, its sheer volume making even the cruise ship seem like a bathtub toy."
Etymology,
From Latin tabula meaning 'tablet, flat piece' + iceberg, from Dutch ijsberg meaning 'ice mountain'. The ancients might have admired its lines, but they lacked the chill.
